  1. America role should mainly be to make the world the best it can be with as little conflict as possible unless it is needed. If a country leader is ruling over a country in negative way and not making the country better that’s when the U.S. should step in. For example if a leader is making their citizens starve to death that’s when we step in and try to consult with the leader and try to help. Another role of the U.S. should be to help another country in debt because we might need the money or something and the other country could come in and save us. If two countries are at war we should step in and try to stop the conflict to make both countries problem free. By us trying to solve problems between other countries could be hard but if a fight is needed we just talk our hands off. If there is a certain group or foundation hurting people in a country the U.S. could send in our army and save the country. For example isis if isis was to attacking Iraq people we should just in and help them fight them off. (Word Count:201)

  2. Isolationists believe the United States should stay out of the politics of other nations. They see intervention as forcing beliefs on others which is a form of oppression. Isolationists also believe there are plenty of un answered problems at home and until those are taken care of the United States has no business spending money on other problems. Interventions costs America billions of dollars every year. Isolationists say they have no say in how that money is spent. Interventionists believe that people everywhere deserve basic freedoms. They think the United States should maintain freedom throughout the world. In the early days America leaned toward Isolationism. George Washington even advised his office against intervention in his 1797 fair well speech. Washington thought the US should conduct things abroad but still stay out of their business. The Monroe document was soon brought into play but America didn’t accept it. Many people believed it was Americas destiny to expand across the content. Because of this thought it pushed Americans to move into Mexican Territory. This caused the Mexican American War from 1846 to 1848. Mexico lost the territory to the settlers. The United States then payed Mexico $15 Million for what is now the American Southwest.

  3. Interventionism is the practice of intervening in other countries economic affairs that usually involves the government in the other countries politics and other countries businesses. Isolationism is the belief that the government should stay out of other countries economic problems and government problems. I think that America’s role should have been to stay out of other countries problems which is called isolationism instead of getting involved with them which is called Interventionism. But what I think is that America should have only been involved in other countries economics if the other countries did something to affect our country and only then we should have gotten involved. I think that Interventionism wasn’t the best thing to do in the case of the country but that is what America decided to do back then I guess and there was nothing that could have been done to stop it. When George Washington was the president he was totally against the idea of Interventionism which he said this in his Presidential Farewell Speech in the year of 1797. So in my opinion about Interventionism versus isolationism is that I would choose isolationism over Interventionism because isolationism in my opinion is the best option to take. (201 words)

  4. America is all about interventionism because we believe that this helps everyone. Interventionism is the belief that everyone deserves freedom wether it’s religious or physical freedom. However isolationism is the exact opposite belief and think that there are many more problems in their own country that needs to be resolved before helping others. Now isloationism is not great for the Countries’ economic growth nor does it help grow through population. Interventionism will not only help others through trade(helping itself along the way) but it will also help the country make more allies or even help expand the country. Now when it comes down to helping countries we are allied with ,we need to be careful when picking our battles. For example one of the reasons that started the Spanish -American war was because one of OUR ships blew up due to engine failure and since we were on the Spanish territory we though it was their fault when in reality it had absolutely nothing to do with them. The only reason we thought it was them was because they were mad at us for taking away their profit by trading more with Cuba than Spain which made them fall into a huge depression. I personally believe that we are way better off as a country being intervintionists than we are isolating ourselves from the entire world. (224)

  5. Personally, I strongly think that America's role should be and focus on interventionism as opposed to isolationism. Interventionism stems from the word "intervene", which means to come together, between, and to be involved in. The policy of interventionism is in accordance with that definition because it means that our government intervenes with global affairs. For example, The United States intervened in Japan after the end of World War I by assisting Japan build a new constitution and government. I believe that things like this are great for our country and should be done whenever deemed necessary. Intervening in this way will do nothing but improve our Country and help us move forward as a nation. On the other side of things, isolationism says that we should remain apart from global affairs and stay "isolated" and alone to ourselves as a country. This idea may seem like a good idea because it sounds like it could potentially allow us to focus on ourselves as a nation, but again, I believe that helping other nations and being globally involved will ultimately push us towards a greater state. Overall, Interventionism is a much more powerful policy than isolationism, and it allows our country to grow in all aspects. (Word Count: 205) - Eric Badger

  6. Interventionism is the policy or doctrine of intervening or being involved with government interference in the affairs of another state, country, or even in domestic economic affairs. Isolationism is a policy of remaining apart from the affairs or interests of other groups. Isolationists believe we should stay away from other political affairs of other states and countries and focus on our own. I think America should focus on Isolationism more than Interventionism. In my opinion, I don’t think any country should be involved with other countries politics, religion, or economic groups. I think America and other countries should focus on themselves, try to better their country, and their social problems and economic problems. When George Washington was president, he was very opposed to Interventionism in to which he claimed in his 1797 Farewell speech. I think if another country is having an issue with their leader or a popular issue going on and they need our help, we should step in and help them with their issue if they ask us for help. I don’t think a country should be involved with others unless they are in need of serious help or they are making a trade or deal with one another. (202 words)

  7. Interventionism vs. isolationism

Both of these have their pros and cons. In my opinion, if the nation’s firm foundation isn’t God then it won’t be good no matter what, truly good I mean. I don’t think as a nation we need to isolate ourselves from everybody else, because we won’t grow. We’ll be stuck in the same box for decades and decades to come. On the other hand, if we expanded with other countries we could accidentally get involved with some stuff that we shouldn’t. The Lord did not intend for us, as a people, to work alone. It’s not right to isolate yourself from the rest of the group. We also need to be wise with whom we partner with, because bad company corrupts good character. For example, (for the whole opinion itself) say there’s a kid eating by himself at lunch everyday. He’s lonely, has no friends, has no knowledge on anything besides what he has seen and experienced, ends up growing up not knowing how to communicate and ask for help, and dies alone. I’m going to be a little dramatic, side note sorry. The group of kids eat with each other everyday at lunch. They all know different things about each other, bond with what they like and dislike, help each other when they’re facing tough times, and end up growing in their relationships with each other, not dying alone, sorry. Now, say the lonely kid joined with the group; he would grow as a person and with them, but say they didn’t want him to join the group and bullied him. He got into some trouble that he didn’t even mean to get into. It was an accident. After all the bullying and trouble is done, a girl approaches him and asks to be his friend. He’s seen this girl before and knows she’s a good kid, unlike the other group of kids. He accepts her friendship and he grows as a person in the right way, the healthy way. The point I’m trying to make is isolationism is not good. For one, it has the root isolate which means, alone. I believe interventionism is better if America has wisdom and discernment. If we don’t have wisdom and don’t follow what the Lord says, we’ll crumble in the worst way. With all that being said, America needs to be firmly rooted in the word of God and be a helping hand when needed. As people in this nation we need to pray up our leaders. (420)

  8. I think this war was good in some ways and bad in some ways. When the war started it was because of the USS Maine exploding and went to war with Spain because we thought they caused the explosion. But the explosion falls into our corner because it somehow exploded on board and not from Spain. From this, I think it would have been a good idea to be more knowledgeable or open-minded about what happen and what caused the explosion of the USS Maine. During the war we picked up a few countries, which are Cuba, Philippines, Guam, Puerto Rico and Hawaii. We initially went to war with just Spain though. For instance, Cuba, Guam the Philippines took a little longer to counjor than it took Puerto Rico and Hawaii. If you think about it, we could have saved so much like men and money if we took a little time to consider what might have really happened to the USS Maine. We lost more than hundreds upon thousands of men to this war and probably thousands to millions of dollars on the ammunition, guns, food and water. I understand why we went into this war but we could have consider what might have happened instead of going headfirst into fire.(213)

  9. I believe that America should be interventionism instead of isolationism. Interventionism, is the belief that everyone deserves freedom whether it’s religious or physical freedom. Isolationists day that the United States should stay out of the politics of other nations, it believes that helping out others might cause us to stumble as a country. Our former president George Washington advised his office against interventionism, because he wanted to focus on American before helping out anyone else. (Everyone has their own opinions) One of the reason I believe in interventionism is because the Bible says that we are called to help out our brothers and sisters who are in need. Interventionism does that! Even though Isolationism is not great for the Country's economic growth nor does it help grow through population, its for a good cause. Interventionism not only helps others through trade but at the same time it will also help the country make more allies or even help expand the country. My second reason to which I believe in interventionism is because Nicaragua(where I am from) the majority of its existence has been ruled by bad presidents who have only wanted to help their own needs and it has brought the economy down. Plus they have not helped it succeed in anyway. The United States has intervened to help Nicaragua and I know people there respect America because of that. I also know that people not only from Nicaragua but around the world look up to America because of interventionism.
