The 1920’s was a time of unormalcy. This time period took away from the life people were used to before this time. Some reasons as to why this was unormal to them was getting new places to live at in boom cities, new fashion ideas for women, men and children, toys for the kids were different, sports in America were exploding, especially baseball including Babe Ruth. This was a way different time than before, partly because of the war things were changing.
Also, the criminal rate was going up, a main player in crime in the 20’s was Al Capone. He was top not in criminal investigation but was never charged. He was later charged with Tax Invastion. This decade was a time to alive. (125)

The 1920’s was nowhere near normal because of many events happening in this time frame. In 1920, the 18th amendment was passed which forbade the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcohol. The Great Depression starting in 1929 played a huge role in society in the United States. Men started to change their fashion and tried to look more “youthful.” Women started dressing in their own way. Women started to dress in ways they felt comfortable (flapper). Laws were passed for Prohibition which made the possession of alcohol illegal. This decade provided some of the best known gangsters. These gangsters made vast wealth by opening illegal bars called “speakeasies.” (108 words)

*“First Home Game Played at the Original Yankee Stadium between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox”

*“The first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is held on November 27th, 1924.” (180)

In the “roaring twenties”, as people call it, was chaotic. So many things were invented and changed in a blink of an eye. People could do anything they desired, mostly. It was a time full of money, drugs, women dressed completely differently, and back then (scandalous), mobsters, and parties. A “dad’s worst nightmare” time. If you really wanted to go all out and be crazy then the twenties was your type of decade. Compared to other decades, the twenties were like the rebellious teenager trying to understand who they are. While the other decades were like the older siblings and the younger. (102)

In the 1920’s a lot of critical things happened. One of the many things that changed was the clothings. Men’s clothing became less stuffy and more “normal” as the women’s clothing changed drastically. Women started wearing flapper dresses and etc. One of the most significant things that might have changed would have been the cars. By 1927 Henry Ford had sold around 15 million Model T’s. During the 1920’s Baseball ruled America. The Yankees and Babe Ruth took charge and did major things like setting many records those years. Many inventions took place during the 1920’s. The one with the greatest impact would have had to been the radio. It became a staple of people’s lives and provided daily entertainment, news, and much more. (120)

The 1920’s clearly seems to be anything but normal. World War I had just ended. After many laws about immigrants and the 18th amendment changing the way people lived; women and men started making fashion statements as to who they were. Men wanted to dress youthful and women wanted to make a statement that men did not determine who they were. Baseball started becoming very big and Soccer even continued to grow because of Britain introducing the radio so the talented soccer players could become soccer stars. The 1920’s ended with the stock market crashing. After several changes and a hard ending it is very apparent that the 1920’s was anything but normal.

Paragraph: The 1920's in America was definitely anything but ordinary or normal for Americans. New inventions were created, new ideas were thought, new businesses and organizations erected, and overall, tons of "firsts" took place during the 1920's. I personally think that this would have been a very stressful time to live in America due to the high volume of activity throughout all the aspects of life. It unfortunately ended with a horrible "bang" due to the Great Depression setting in in 1929 once the Wall Street Crash took place. The "Roaring 20's" were filled with many new and great things, but the end of the tunnel was unfortunately grim for that decade. (Word Count: 111)
