  1. Part 1
    10 interesting facts:
    1. Hugh Thomson, a man during the way landed a helicopter in the line of fire to confront and stop American troops who had just killed 500 civilians in the My Lai Massacre, was later labeled a traitor by Congress.
    2. The Vietnam War is known as "the American War" in Vietnam.
    3. Slinkys were used in the Vietnam war as mobile radio antennas.
    4. During the war, an estimated 125,000 Americans fled to Canada to avoid the military draft.
    5. Around half of the people that fled returned to the US when President Carter in his first day in office, granted them amnesty.
    6. Congressional Medal Honor Winner Peter Lemon was high on marijuana when he fought off two waves of Vietcong troops as well as dragging a soldier to saftey.
    7. During the Vietnam War, a US task force known as "Tiger Force" cut off the ears of its victims to make necklaces from them.
    8. When Colonel Chappier James was Vice Wing Commander under Colonel Robin Olds during the way they were known as "Black Man and Robin"
    9. During the Vietnam war, Navy Seal teams One and Two gathered a combined kill death ratio of 200:1.
    10. The UNited States use of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War resulted in 400,000 people being killed or mained and 500,000 birth defects.

    Part 2.
In South Vietnam, they experience very little climate change, with mostly hot and humid temperatures, as well as dense and lush rainforests. Although one might think that the rainforest would provide the perfect hiding place for soldiers against their enemy, that's not exactly how things went. In some cases, that would work, but not for everyday travel. The dense terrain also made it harder to keep up with your group, as well as target the enemy. The Vietnamese also had an advantage because they knew the terrain well and how to handle it. Soldiers experienced trench foot, malaria, and other terrible diseases and issues. The Vietnam land was probably the hardest to maneuver in any American war. (118)

    Part 3.
The pentagon papers played a large aspect in how we hid out war in the east. We didn't want to tell Americans what was really going on due to the enlistment amount already being low. As the Vietnam War dragged on and the U.S. military presence in South Vietnam increased to more than 500,000 troops by 1968, the military analyst Daniel Ellsberg came to oppose the war, and decided that the information contained in the Pentagon Papers should be more widely available to the American public. Lyndon Johnson was afraid that communism would spread to America and make people join the communist side, but due to the brutality and witnessing the effect communism had on a country made people stick devoted to serve the United States. Part 4.
As the war dragged on, despite positive by the presidents, the American people began to grow restless. They started doubting the government, and protesting the war, saying that America had no business being in the war, and that the war was too expensive, both in lives and material cost. They were sick of American blood being shed for a cause that no one believed in anymore. They were frustrated and even fearful of the government, afraid of what other lies the government may have told them or secrets they might be hiding. People expressed all this built up fear, frustration, and anger in mass protests and draft dodging, their way of telling the Government that they were still answerable to the people. (121)

  2. The war was mainly fought in south and north Vietnam
South Vietnam had 200-400 thousands civilian casualties during the war
The USA helped south Vietnam in the war
The United States has over 300 thousand injuries during the war
North Vietnam suffered the loss of 1m troops during the war
South Vietnam had over 200 thousand casualties
South Vietnam had over 1 million injuries
The United States only suffered 52 k deaths during the war
North Vietnam had over 500 thousand troops injured during the war what was nothing compared to south vietnams
North Vietnam had over 50 k civilian casualties during the war (104)

One of the hardest things for the troops of the USA during the Vietnam War was watching fellow army men die or getting injured. Other hard things were the weather conditions and the other enemies just trying to prolong the war. Another thing is perannya which leads to lack of sleep and all. In other words troops struggled with a lot trying to fight for us and all. Troops also struggle with loneliness and homesickness because they are away from all they know. But one of the major struggles of the war was it was a very back and forth war throughout all of it. (105)

The government during the Vietnam War tried to cover up the fact that enlistment numbers were low and the war was a very back and forth war. I think they did this so people would not be worried about what is going on with troops away from home. I also think they did not want to beg for people to enlist so much due to the fact their enemy might get confident off of that and attack us harder or push us harder. But one of the main facts I think is they did not want to tell people we were not really doing the best in the war.

I believe that the main reason that people protested the Vietnam War was because they wanted peace instead of war which would be nice if it was possible but it’s hard to settle matters that way because everyone is different and stubborn. Which I don’t disagree with the protesters about wanting peace and all but it is kind of dumb because we kind of were already in war so protesting for peace did not make matters go away because we are already in war. But that is just my opinion on the matter of protestors because if you are already in war you can’t just quit war really until one side wins. (112)
