His age, his family's wealth, his tragic death...all of it has created a shroud of mystique around his life.

Mysteries of the Kennedy Assassination
ReplyDeleteJohn Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, while riding in a presidential motorcade. His accused killer was Lee Harvey Oswald, who was himself murdered by Jack Ruby, a Texas night club owner before he could stand trial. Oswald took knowledge of anyone aiding him to the grave. Jack Ruby, a Texas night club owner, murdered Oswald on live TV. In 1967, before his death of lung cancer, Ruby told a psychiatrist the assassination was a coup and he knew who was responsible for Kennedy’s murder. James R. Worrell Jr. was a high school student who was an eye witness to the murder and gave testimony before Congress. Three years later he was killed while riding his motorcycle. Thomas H Boggs, Sr. was a longtime Louisiana Congressman and leader when Kennedy was killed. He was appointed to the commission investigating the assasination where he accused the FBI director of lying. On October 16, 1972, Boggs died in an airplane crash. In his book Crossfire, the author James F. Marrs, Jr. provided a list of 103 people with knowledge of the Kennedy assassination who he claims died in mysterious circumstances in the following decade. It appears that witnessing an assassination of a president and talking about it is “life limiting.” It is also interesting to note, “Crossfire Hurricane” was the codename for the operation undertaken by the FBI to spy on the ‘Trump for President Campaign’ during 2016 and 2017. Joseph Kennedy Sr was John Kennedy's father and he's the one that began to build their fortune. He was originally from Boston and wanted to create some sort of fortune for his kids and grandchildren to have and hold onto. He invested his time and money into many businesses but some of his biggest were banking, stock trading, producing movies, and selling liquor. Now while at the time of his rise to great power with money the stock market started to slowly decrease and he knew he would need to get out before it crashed during the great depression starting in 1929. Ultimately The Kennedy's were actually more wealthy during the great depression than before because of how smart he was with their money. The Kennedys were slowly recognized for their real estate and houses. People started to realize Jfk's wealth during his presidency. He would donate his salary, $100,000 a year, to charity. He truly did this to help out others more than try and “flex” on everyone saying he didn’t need to be paid to be President. His and his families wealth steadily increased since his father started getting them into business. They are still, to this day, known and looked at as one of the wealthiest families. Although their wealth cannot be compared to certain peoples today for back then, it was incredible. (227)
ReplyDeleteI chose to do my blog on the 1960 election and if it was rigged or not for Kennedy. I feel like this question mainly comes down to your own opinion. I do not believe there is enough evidence to really say he rigged it but not saying there is enough to say he didn’t. But my opinion is that he did not rig the election he just played it pretty sneaky. I say he played it sneaky because this was the first election ever on tv and he knew that and used that to his advantage. He used this to his advantage by looking good on tv himself and cranking the heat when Nixon was on tv. The reason though that I do not believe it was rigged is people would have looked past Nixon maybe being nervous on tv to people he could not see and just listened to what he had to say. I also feel if they never broadcasted over the tv then JFK would have probably lost. So in conclusion I do not think he rigged the election but used what he could to win just like what people do now they get any dirt on their opponents and use that to sway votes. (209)
ReplyDeleteThe assassination of JFK was an event that shocked the country since most young people got involved with politics because of JFK. These conspiracies include the KGB, the CIA, the mafia, Fidel castro. The man who shot JFK was Lee Harvey Oswald, after he killed JFK while in custody by police he was shot by nightclub owner Jack Ruby. This spurred rumors of a potential cover up by jack ruby in assassinating oswald so he wouldn't talk about why he did it. There was also alleged witness intimidation and also witness deaths. Testimonies were ignored, film and photographs important to the investigation were confiscated, documents that could have helped were withheld. Author david lifton presented the idea that kennedy's body was altered between the dallas hospital and the autopsy site to change what it looked in terms of the bullet's path. The many accusations and conspiracies made america think if there could be spies upon us looking like everyday people but reporting back to their countries with information regarding sensitive details about the United States and its people. Many thought Fidel Castro could be behind it which was very possible since the man was evil and hungered for power. (203)
ReplyDeleteI chose to do my blog on the Kennedy family well. The wolf the Kennedy family began during the great depression whenever Joseph P Kennedy invested most of his money in real estate and since then his wolf skyrocketed. After Kennedy invested most of his money in real estate by 1928 his worth was up to $4 million which was considered a lot of money during the great depression and Still is now. as time went on by 1935 his wealth was estimated to be around $135 million and continue to grow overtime. All of this to begin with his investment in real estate during the great depression. After they became multi millionaires they started going into politics and thriving because of the massive amount of wealth that they had. The Kennedy family also invested heavily in the stocks which also helped them in politics but because they were investing during the great depression stocks were very low‘s in prices and as soon as the Konomi started to come back they doubled their wealth because they invent invested so heavily during low point of the stock market. Overall during the early 1900s the Kennedy family was one of the wealthier families and really thrived through the great depression and the great depression honestly helped them gain a lot of wealth.

ReplyDeleteI found a video by the New York Times about the theory of JFK being assassinated by “the umbrella man”. Josiah “Tink” Thompson author of 6 Seconds in Dallas explains that he was going over video reels and photo stills of the day JFK was assassinated when he noticed someone very odd in a few of them. It had rained the day before in Dallas but by 9am the day of it was completely clear, yet someone in the crowed was holding an opened black umbrella. What makes it really odd is that the gun shots went not even a second after JFK’s limo passed by the man with the umbrella. Some people speculated that the umbrella was actually specially designed to fire a flachet out of and even had a way to aim it which would explain why JFK had the hole in neck. But the man himself actually stepped up and revealed in 1978 when he testified for the house select committee on assassination that he was actually protesting Kennedy’s father and his appeasement policies and the umbrella was a reference to Nevel Chaimberland’s umbrella. I guess people can come up with reasons why someone would do something harmful but can never come up with one of the infinite reasons why someone wouldn’t be.(216)

My blog is Kennedy families wealth instead of the truth behind their assassinations since my knowledge is worthless due to the cognitive dissonance ensnaring our society. The Kennedy’s family is often called the closest thing America has to an aristocracy due to their vast wealth and power creating influence in a multitude of sectors.Joseph P. Kennedy is. Credited as the sustaining force behind Kennedy’s wealth from insider trading only to later chair the SEC. According to Forbes pegs the family’s fortune is documented as $1 billion. The richest descendant Caroline Kennedy is thought to have $175 million as of 2013.Another descendant Robert Shriver, who is running for Los Angeles County Supervisor, still possess assets equal to tens of millions, according to public financial disclosures required of government officials.Nearly all the Kennedy’s family wealth is managed by Joseph P. Kennedy Enterprises, a family office located in New York City with assets dating back to 1927. Joseph P. Kennedy’s choice to place his fortune in trusts is the single most critical reason as to why the Kennedy family is still so influential today. The trusts were also set up in a way whereas the family assets from taxes . By holding assets i“dynasty trusts,” which are passed from heir to heir for decades, if not longer, the Kennedy family fortune is largely insulated from the estate tax.Handled correctly, a dynasty trust could potentially maintain an un-taxable fortune indefinitely. The oldest Kennedy trust on record dates back to 1936. Then Kennedy family has used other economic loopholes to maintain their prominence such as when In the 1998 sale of the family’s most valuable asset: the iconic Merchandise Mart, a towering retail space on the Chicago River that was once thought to be the largest building in the world. Thanks to a carefully crafted deal with Vornado Realty , the Kennedy family deferred – or possibly avoided completely – capital gains tax on nearly half the value of the sale.Thos was achieved by an investment tool called an “operating partnership unit.” Like equity, partnership units offered the Kennedys an ownership stake in Vornado Realty, generating a robust stream of dividends. The family pocketed $303 from the sale , and$116 million came in the form of this investment instrument, according to SEC filings.(382)
