  1. E 1) this movement was dealing with alcohol. It was pretty much women who were against alcohol, and didn't want it because their husbands would get drunk and beat them and their children and leave them.
2)some were glad they were doing this and some were against it.
    3) I think that the result was both good and bad I mean eventually alcohol became illegal and stuff, but it also probably increased the chance for more disease because the water or milk neither one was clean because cows would eat plants that was poison to humans and not to cows so it effected it

  2. 1. This whole movement was dealing with banishing alcohol. There were several, several people against it. But also there were people for it. Mainly the women and children wanted it banned. I mean, after all, some husbands who came home drunk would beat their wives or children! What in the world!
    2. Some people were for it. Some people were against it. The women and children really supported it, the men were the primary people against it.
    3. The result could be taken different ways. It ended up being illegal later in life due to the prohibition act. I think it still should be today. But that's just me and my opinion.

  3. This movement was dealing with ending the enslaving of African Americans and slave trading. It was a movement to free the slaves and stop slavery from moving further.
Americans reacted to this movement by worrying about how they would survive without having slaves work for them.
The result of the abolition movement was the end of slavery, it was good and bad. The reason why it was good was because African Americans would not have to work and get whipped and tortured. The reason why it was bad was because the Americans with slaves lost them and couldn't do all the work by themselves. 114 words

  4. The Temperance Movement:

    1. The Temperance Movement was dealing with the issue of alcohol. During the 19th century, many men would drink alcohol. This would tear families apart. Because of this reason, many women (and some men) wanted it banned.
    2. Like many issues during this time, there were people that loved it and people that hated it. Many women and children hated it because they were the ones that got hurt because of alcohol. Many men didn't like it though.
    3. The result was good for the people that wanted it banned. Alcohol ended up getting banned in the 1920's. However, it didn't stop people from drinking alcohol.

  5. 1. The abolition movement was dealing with slavery. They were trying to get rid of or execute slavery in America. They felt like all people were equal and that no race was superior to the other. They just wanted everyone to be equal and happy.

    2. Some Americans were extremely happy about the abolition movement. There were also Americans that hated the abolition movement and believed that slaves were property and will always be property. They just wanted to make profits and money from the slaves. The people who supported this movement wanted slaves free because they knew that blacks were people and humans just like the whites. There are many white people who supported the abolition movement.

    3. It took many many years for the abolition movement to get the result that it wanted. At this time they had many different meetings and things to come up with ways to abolish slavery. The result at this time was bad because so many people were against this movement. In the end it all worked out for the abolition movement. Words: 177

  6. The Temperance Movement

this movement was mainly dealing with alcohol and alcohol being a very big issue with men. wives would get mad that their husbands would get drunk to much and it affect the family.
A lot of people were against this movement happening but others thought it was a great idea.
in my opinion, I believe that this movement was both good and bad. I think it was a good idea because family would not be torn apart and wives would be happy. on the other side I think it was bad because men wanted to drink a lot of alcohol but when it became illegal, men became against the movement.

  7. This movement was dealing with alcohol and what it was doing to men and their families. This was also called the "Second Great Awakening." Many women opposed because of what it was doing to their family. Some men were gambling away their money, and some might have been physical with their wives. Many Americans were supportive of this movement, some people, men in particular thought it was perfectly fine to have some alcohol. The outcome was wonderful for some women who worked hard to stop it, alcohol was banned in 1920. Yet it did not stop all men from taking another sip. 102

    1. Slavery and racism was being rebuked in this instance
    2. There appeared to have been two distinct views on slavery; there were abolitionists, those who opposed slavery, and there were those who supported slavery. Depending on which view the person sided with is how they would view the movement. Many slave owners and slavery supporters believed that slavery was necessary to the economy, but abolitionists simply thought it was wrong and racist.
    3. The long-term result was great, but there were some “bumps in the road” to get there. It took many events to get to a point where slavery would cease to exist.

  9. temperance movement

basically this movement was centered around alcohol. It was a very big issue with men with their drinking and how they would handle it especially being around their families. A lot of women hated their men in their lives drinking cause it what cause so much fuss and also how they treated every one and what their actions would show. It would be just fine to have a sip but on the other hand having way to much is out of hand and should really control them selves because they took it way to far for some men.

  10. Temperance movement:
    * most of the men were alcoholics, causing the families to get destroyed. The men would beat the women and possibly children. There was probably also neglect, emotionally and physically. Back to the beating there was a law where you had to beat them with an inched stick/Cain. Plus, the men would gamble and waste the money. This also what's called the, second great awakening
    * this movement was very well supportive with the Americans, especially the women. Most of the women would start movements also. They would has signs saying, the lips that touch lichor shall not touch ours. Alcohol tore up families and relationships.
    * for the women the outcome was amazing, but the men weren't too happy, but alcohol was eventually banned in 1920.

  11. 1. The temperance movement was trying to solve the problem of Over consumption of alcoholic beverages. At first they tried to get people to drink less but it didn't work. They had people take pledges to not drink.

    2. Lots of people were against this movement mainly med who loved to drink and alcoholics. Some people, many women, thought this was a great idea because women would often lose their husbands to alcohol and become widows. They weren't able to find a job after that and them and their families would not be able to provide for themselves and fall into poverty.

    3. The result was both good and bad.

  12. The abolitionist movement was all about the end of slavery and also the end of any and also all racial tensions, and they could not agree on a common way to end slavery such as gradually or right away and all at once. The movement was good but America reacted at first very aggressively and they decided to go all at once. The result was that they got what they wanted which was to end slavery and they still had to work on the end of racism in America which did not get solved until the 1900's. They did however get one of their main goals done. (Word count 107)

  13. Dorothea Dix and Mental/Prison Reform

1)The problem this movement was dealing with was the mistreatment of mentally ill, specifically in prisons. Those with mental illness were considered an embarrassment. They were often abandoned by their own family, the state had nowhere to put them other than prison.Basically, they were considered criminals for their illness.

2)The response to the movement was pretty positive.Dorothea Dix went before the Senate to have an asylum authorized,it was authorized the day after she presented it.She traveled from state to state to have asylums built for the mentally ill and she was overall well received.

3)The outcome of this movement was good.Asylums were built to care for the mentally ill rather than criminalize them.(115 words)

  14. 1. The issue the abolition movement dealt with was slavery and the removal of it immediately in America.

    2. The reaction to this movement in America was obviously highly split. The people for it, who were mainly in the north, we're all for the abolition movement and wanted to see it be carried out in the nation. However, on the other side you had the opposition, mainly southerners. They said that abolition was not needed and that slavery being fired everyone, including slaves.

    3. The result of this movement was good and bad. Abolition was carried out in the end, which freed all slaves and was greatly rejoiced in the north. In the south however, this destroyed all economy and was frowned upon greatly.

  15. This weeks blog is about a movement of our choice. I chose the Abolition.

The problem with the abolition movement was that slaves were everywhere. The abolition was the attempt to remove or abolish slavery. Many abolitionists faced problems, because some believed slavery was good. Many had mixed views on slavery, some thought it was God's plan to have slavery, and others thought slavery was plain wrong.

There were many different reactions to the abolition. Some, like I previously stated, agreed and wanted to abolish slavery, while others thought it was a necessity to keep.

The result of the abolition was definitely positive for the anti slavery movement. In the long run, it did abolish slavery. This is why it was positive.

  16. 1-The problem facing abolition was people wanted slaves to be free and not to be a slave anymore. People were called abolitionist which are people that supposed the ending of slavery.
2- They reacted by setting up the Underground, which was a system of paths that led slaves to the north so they could become free. Most people did support abolition. Most people didn't think it was smart to get rid of the people who were working for them and basically responsible for their money or their income.
3- The result of abolishment was the civil war because the north didn't have slaves but the south did. But I would say that it was a good and bad thing.

  17. This act was dealing with alcohol. Manny women and children wanted alcohol removed because it would make the father of the house drunk and then he would abuse the family.

Many people were for it and many were against it. The people that were for it were the men that could get it because that was their only drink they really had. The women and children wanted this to pass.

I think the result could have been both ways. It later became illegal so I guess it is both good and bad. It took many years for this act to be passed.

  18. The temperance movement was not allowing people to buy or sell alcohol. This movement started in the 1930's when wife's, and others thought men were drinking too much and it was getting out of hand. (picture we looked at Friday during class) In the Third world countries, the Temperance movement helped stop alcohol problems. In the US it didn't help as much stop the problem, as we can still see the result today. People do still drink as of today. Susan B. Anthony, Frances E. Willard and Carry A were some of the most known women in this movement.

    2. i feel like people reacted differently to this movement. men didnt react well when they heard about this movement but women and kids were more than thrilled.
    3. the result of this movement depends on whos perspective you decide to look at. the women thought it was a good idea because it was kinda a sign of freedom but men thought it was a bad idea because they want to drink. so i guess it can go both ways based on how you look at it.

  21. The temperance movement
What was the problem this movement was dealing with?
At this day in age many Americans were drinking… a lot. Instead of gif milk, back them it would have been got liqueur? This was do to the economic and social problems of this time. Also, drinking alcohol was much more safe than drinking water since alcohol was fermented while water was contaminated.
    2. How did Americans react to this particular movement?
Well, first this was just another 1800’s movement that wanted to get Americans to slowly stop drinking alcohol but because of all the great reforms going on in the time period, they tried to get people to stop drinking completely in the 1820’s. Actually many states banned alcohol. All the people who took the temperance movement joked a group called the COLD WATER ARMY. Many Americans disagreed but most of the woman living in the US agreed because they were normally the ones getting Beaton or widowed by their husbands drinking problem. We can pretty much thank the Second Great Awakeing for this movement because during this period between the American Revolution and the civil war, many new reforms were coming out and a spark of religion occurred. These revivals wanted to make the works better which menat outlawing alcohol.
    3. What was the result? Good or bad?
There are many pros and cons but I truly believe this is a matter of opinion. You could say well this just led to people wanting the product even more which made it more expensive and how some states had it illegally, but to me the best thing that came out of the temperance movement was woman standing up for themselves. I mean getting rid of alcohol was good in all but this had not ever happened before. Groups were normally formed by men about some war like the sons of Liberty but this was started by woman to protect them from their drunken husbands. They said, “ lips that touch liquor shall not touch ours.” And An’t They A Woman!

  22. After the Second Great Awakening, many people began to advocate for the emancipation of every slave and for racial discrimination and segregation to end on religious terms. Many Americans opposed the abolitionist movement and sometimes reacted violently, sometime committing violent acts. The southerners who opposed the movement didn't want to lose their slaves while the northerners who opposed the movement were just afraid that African Americans would never fit into American society or that the movement would cause a war between the north and south. The institution of slavery in America ended because of the abolitionist movement. The slaves were free.
